HiNet Notice for Collection of Information and Policy for Collected Information Utilization

1. Chunghwa Telecom (including any HiNet Internet Service, Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories, and Chunghwa Telecom Institutes, hereinafter referred to as the "Company") and its service contractors may, in the territories where the Company operates business and in the duration of the Company's operation, for such specific purposes as "Marketing", "Consumer/Customer Management and Service", "Credit Card, ATM Card, Debit Card and e-Ticket", "Booking, Check-in and Ticketing", "Valid Transaction of Personal Information", "Consumers Protection", "Survey, Statistics, and Research & Analysis", "Information (Communication) Service", "Information (Communication) and Database Management", "Information (Communication) Safety Management", "Internal Control Over Roster of Shareholders, Members (including the representatives designated by shareholders and members), Directors, Supervisors and Other Members", "Operation of Telecommunication Business and Telecom Value-Added Network Business", "Other Operations Conducted for the Purpose Identified in the Business Registration or Defined in the Articles of Association" and "Other Advice and Consultation Services", collect, process and utilize the information, including but not limited to, the client's personal (or his/her representative's) name and ID No. and any certificate sufficient to identify the client's identity, address, contact No., email, assigned number and communication record (the personal information and communication record referred to in the application form), in order to help the Company provide messages about telecom services, value-added services, preferential projects, marketing and functions, or product market survey, and serve the reminder to the client or user. It is within your discretion to complete your personal information. Notwithstanding, if the information provided by you is incomplete or in error, it will be impossible for the Company to approve your application or provide you with the complete services (pursuant to Article 8 of the Personal Information Protection Act and the specific purposes and categorizes of personal information under the Personal Information Protection Act as promulgated by Ministry of Justice on October 1, 2012.

2. The Company will use said information complete by the applicant for the purpose of communicating the services only, and the information about legal representative and appointee for the application and communication only.

3. You may request, search for, and review the reproduction and correction of, and ceased collection, processing and utilization of, and deletion of your personal information with the Company pursuant to the Personal Information Protection Act and related laws. To exercise said right, you shall complete the "CHT User Personal Information Application and Processing Response Form" and submit your ID card to the Company's service center, or if you appoint a proxy to file the application on behalf of you, the proxy shall submit the certificate of proxy and also his/her own ID card for verification. If the applicant fails to comply with said requirement, the Company may ask the applicant to supplement the relevant information.

4. The way to provide said information, time limit of processing thereof, search for expenses and due date for payment shall be handled in accordance with the relevant laws, the Company's business regulations, and service contract, and additional costs and expenses may be charged, if necessary, provided that the Company may approve or reject your application by taking into consideration the business needs and statutory maintenance time limit pursuant to Article 10 and Article 11 of the Personal Information Protection Act.

5. If you wish to request the Company to terminate the continuous processing and utilization of your information, you may complete the "CHT User Personal Information Application and Processing Response Form" to request ceased processing or utilization, or deletion, of your personal information via any of the Company's service center at any time.

Policy for HiNet's Sharing of Personal Information with a Third Party

Unless in the event of the following circumstances, HiNet will not disclose your name, address, email address and any other information protected pursuant to laws as included in the personal information registered or recorded by you, without your prior consent:

  • Requirement by laws
  • Requirement by judicial authority or any other competent authority under statutory procedure
  • Protection of HiNet property and interest
  • Protection of your or a third party's personal safety or interest under some urgent circumstances
Registration of, Amendment to, and Confidentiality of User Information

You shall provide complete and true personal information. If the information registered by you is altered later, you shall update the same on line pursuant to HiNet's requirements from time to time. If you provide untrue personal information, fail to update the untrue information registered by you, or provide any personal information likely to breach or ruin HiNet's service purpose or mislead any person, HiNet shall be entitled to refuse, or terminate in whole or in part, your access to the service available on the website at any time.

If the personal information completed by you is repetitive, or misappropriates another person's name intentionally, violates the public order and good morals, or is likely to infringe another person's right of personal name, company name, trademark or other intellectual property rights, or likely to lead another person to misidentify the same, or likely to violate any other laws and regulations, or ruin HiNet's service purpose, HiNet may reject your registration, or ask you to alter the same later, or cancel your right to access the service, and the user shall bear the civil and criminal liabilities solely.

Self-Protection Measures

Please keep your password and any personal information with care, and never make your personal information, particularly the password, available to any person. Upon your completion of the shopping or access to the email, please do remember to log out your account. If you share the computer with another person or use a public computer, please do remember to turn off the browser window to prevent another person from accessing your personal information or mail.
